From 1 October 2018 West Sussex residents who drive a commercial-type vehicle will need to have a permit to dispose of their household waste at County Council recycling sites. The permit will apply to anyone who uses a van, pickup or single axle trailer and will be available to West Sussex residents only. The scheme is being introduced at all 11 West Sussex Household Waste Recycling Sites and the two mobile sites. In addition, some vehicles will no longer be allowed to use HWRSs. For health and safety reasons all trailers will be banned from Bognor Regis and Littlehampton sites. Residents can start applying for a permit from1 August 2018. Pedestrian access to this site.
Local residents, who live close enough to walk to this site, shall be accommodated wherever possible. There may be times when due to operational reasons pedestrian access will not be allowed.
Pedestrian users are requested, for their own safety, to use the site at quiet times.
Local pedestrian users should report to the site staff on arrival and will be advised on how to deposit waste and where to go. They will be required to use designated pedestrian routes and will be advised of conditions on the day. The same applies to people using a wheel barrow or other wheeled container.
Cyclists are NOT permitted to ride bicycles around the sites. Cyclists should walk into the site as a pedestrian user.
The site rules regarding children and animals will still apply.
Customers who attempt to avoid queuing at busy times and park their cars outside the sites are not permitted to walk into the sites.
How do I report fly-tipping?
If you see someone fly-tipping or would like to report an area where fly-tipping has taken place, you should make a note of the following:
- The date, time and place of the occurrence.
- What the waste looks like and how much there is.
- A description of any vehicles involved, including the vehicles registration numbers.
- A description of any persons involved in the offence.
