Fight Against Food Waste Event

Posted on 29 August 2018

To kick off the West Sussex Waste Partnership’s #FightAgainstFoodWaste campaign, we are holding two events between 11am and 3pm on:

  • Thursday 30 August on Chichester Cathedral Green.
  • Thursday 6 September at Memorial Gardens, Crawley.

MasterChef Champion 2018 Kenny Tutt will be joining us between 12pm and 2.30pm to cook up a storm, demonstrating how the most frequently wasted food items can be turned into delicious meals.

There will also be a variety of other information and stands, including our West Sussex Waste Prevention Team, who will be on hand to talk about food waste prevention, single use plastic alternatives and home composting. We will also be supported by UK Harvest, who rescue food from local growers/supermarkets and redistribute it.

Refill will provide a stall promoting the national practical tap water campaign that aims to make refilling your bottle as easy, convenient and cheap as possible by introducing Refill Stations on every street. This project also reduces litter by removing the need for single use plastic bottles, whilst helping us to stay hydrated in this warm weather, and encouraging more people to support local businesses.

Additionally, Sussex Smoothie Bikes will provide the opportunity to make your own smoothie from fruit/vegetables using pedal power. Come and enjoy the fun!

If you can't make the events but still want to do your bit to join the West Sussex Waste Partnership and #FightAgainstFoodWaste, you can visit the West Sussex Waste Prevention website for more information and advice on how you can wage your own war on food waste.

You can also find out more on our Facebook and Twitter pages over the coming months.
