Summer safety: Getting rid of your disposable BBQ safely

Posted on 2 August 2018

With the summer holidays in full swing trips to the beach, local park or even a lazy afternoon in the back garden are surely on the list of things to do. This may even include bringing a cheeky disposable BBQ along to add to the festivities.

However, what do you do with it once the embers have faded? Here’s our advice:

  1. Make sure your disposable BBQ is fully extinguished,
  2. Disposable BBQs cannot go in your recycling, so follow step 3 or 4 for how you can safely dispose of your disposable BBQ,
  3. If you’re going to put it in the bin, wait at least 48 hours before wrapping cold coals in aluminium foil and disposing of them,

Alternatively cold and fully extinguished BBQ’s can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Site - please ask for assistance from a member of staff on site to assist with safe disposal.
