Ford Open Day

Extra sessions announced for tours of the recycling plant

Posted on 31 August 2012

Due to popular demand, Viridor are delighted to announce that 2 extra sessions have been planned for the Heritage Open Days event at Ford Materials Recycling Facility.

Heritage Open Days, funded by English Heritage, celebrate England’s architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to interesting properties not usually open to the public or those that would usually attract an entrance fee.

The open days will include a free tour of a state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at Ford in Arundel, operated on behalf of West Sussex County Council.

Tessa Nash, Regional Communications Manager said: “This is a unique opportunity for anyone curious about what happens to their recycling once it’s collected from their homes to get a rare glimpse behind the scenes at one of our busiest sites.

People will be able to see first-hand the various technologies we use to separate out all the materials we receive so they can be recycled into other products.

“We know that people are increasingly interested in reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill and hope that by coming and seeing what happens at the Ford facility they will go away inspired to recycle more and waste less.”

The additional two sessions are planned for Thursday 6th September at 8pm and Friday 7th September at 2pm. Both sessions will last approximately 1 hour.

Spaces are extremely limited and must be prebooked so please email or ring 01903 712620 to book a space on one of these tours.
